Queens’ Duel
Platform: PC and Mobile Engine: Unity
Role: Game Designer
Queens’ Duel is luck and strategy game within Fer.al where players roll six dice and use their value to defend, attack, and empower three lanes on the board. Their opponent, Kino, is a crafty character who will be using the same rules to try to claim victory.
If players can best Kino in two of the three lanes, they are declared the victory and are offered the opportunity to double-down or take their earnings. Fail state is when Kino wins two of the three lanes.
The goal for this design was to create a simple dice game that afforded a story to compliment the game’s lore regarding it’s two queens and their struggles.

POSTMORTEM
This was the first of eight total parlor games that I had designed during my time on the Fer.al project. Not only did it have a short production cycle, but it required rapid documentation, planning, and testing throughout. This was also one of the first times I designed in a “pod” setting with a tiny team and self-imposed sprints that challenged our groups ability to balance features, iterations, and updates.
